Facts: Reid Debt Reduction plan was supported by GOP until Democrats agreed - Las Vegas Democrat | Examiner.com

Every spending cut in the Reid Debt Ceiling proposal presented to Congress yesterday, had the support of both House and the Senate Republicans.

Now that their demands have been “wrapped up in a bow and delivered to their door“ by Senator Reid, Republicans say that’s not good enough, we want more. But what they really want which is not included in Reid’s proposal, is to force the nation to go through this same insanity again six months from now. Reid’s proposal calls for readdressing the debt ceiling in the beginning of 2013. The Republicans want to bring back this insanity and economic uncertainty back in early 2012. They are putting politics ahead of our country.

The Facts:

REID PLAN: $1.2 Trillion in Discretionary Spending Cuts. The $1.2 trillion in discretionary spending cuts include both defense and non-defense spending.

Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips sued by Las Vegas casino - Las Vegas Democrat | Examiner.com

Last year the Tea Party Nation announced that they would be hosting the Tea Party Unity Convention. The convention was originally scheduled to take place July 15-17, 2010, at the Palazzo Resort, Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judson Phillips, the founder of the Tea Party Nation is now being sued by the Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino.

The Tea Party Nation reserved 1637 rooms at the Palazzo, then canceled just two weeks prior to the event, saying that it was too hot in Las Vegas during the month of July, which is certainly true, but its never been a secret. The Tea Party Nation had agreed to pay the hotel $579,148 in the event of a cancellation and $87,996 in interest has since been added to that amount.

"Despite numerous requests for payment," the Venetian's lawyers claim, the Tea Party Nation "has refused, and continues to refuse, to make payment."
The Palazzo is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, which also owns the Venetian, along with several other properties.

Some of the scheduled guest speakers for the failed Tea Party Unity Convention, were Andrew Breitbart, Sharron Angle and Sarah Palin who was to be paid $100,000 for her participation.
