Senate resolution allows Ensign aides to testify to Grand Jury

Last night the US Senate voted to allow aides for Senator John Ensign (R-NV) to testify before a grand jury in Washington.

Senator Ensign is being investigated by the Dept. of Justice for breaking federal lobby laws in the wake of his nine month extramarital affair with Cindy Hampton and skirting lobby laws by helping her husband Doug Hampton secure a job as a lobbyist, who then lobbied the Senator.

Two ongoing investigations have been underway for several months against the Senator by the Senate Ethics committee, as well as the Dept. of Justice.

Congressional candidate Dr. Joe Heck emulating Sharron Angle

Dr. Joe Heck (R-NV) a candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District (CD3), a seat currently held by Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV), apparently shares many of the same views as US Senate candidate Sharron Angle (R-NV). He also thinks that congress should not be helping States to create jobs.

Dr. Heck even used the same wording as Angle, “the role of Congress is not to create jobs“, and he also wants to privatize Social Security and Medicare, just as Sharron Angle wants to do. In fact, Dr. Heck took $5000.00 dollars for signing a pledge to privatize Social Security and Medicare.

BP misses deadline to fund $20 billion escrow account

Last month President Barack Obama persuaded BP to set up an escrow account in the amount of $20 billion ($5 billion a year for the next four years) to compensate those that make their living off of waters in the Gulf of Mexico and to pay for the clean up caused by BP’s oil disaster.

Kenneth Fienberg, who was the administrator for the 911 victims fund, was picked by President Obama to administer and handle claims and payments for the Gulf oil victims.

Yesterday at a Town Hall meeting in Alabama, Feinberg told an angry crowd that BP PLC is holding up payments and that he hasn't been able to start writing claims checks because BP PLC has not yet deposited any money into the $20 billion escrow fund it promised to create.

Senate Minority Leader McConnell will not campaign for Sharron Angle

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) told CNSNews.com that he will not be coming to Nevada to campaign on behalf of Sharron Angle before the November General Election.

A senior Republican aide for McConnell told CNSNews.com, “He’s helping Republicans all over the map, but he’s not going to Nevada,” when he was asked if McConnell was going to campaign on behalf of Reid's Republican opponent.

The Republican aide also pointed out that the Minority Leader had already donated the maximum of $5000.00 to the Angle campaign, and that there is an unspoken rule where the Minority Leader and the Majority Leader do not campaign against each other in their home States.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele accused of hiding $7.1 million in debt

RNC Chairman Michael Steele accused of hiding $7.1 million in debt

The Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has been accused by the RNC Treasurer of attempting to hide $7.1 million of debt.

The Washington Times reports that RNC Treasurer Randy Pullen sent a memo to the budget committee members Tuesday accusing Steele and his chief of staff, Michael Leavitt, of "trying to conceal" the debt by "ordering staff not to communicate with the treasurer -- a charge RNC officials deny."

If the allegations are true, it could expose the Republican Party to millions of dollars in fines and even criminal prosecution.

"This is significant because the civil penalties could mean big fines that take a significant bite out of the RNC's finances close to the November congressional elections, when state parties need the RNC's financial help for their 'victory' programs," said former FEC Commissioner Hans A. von Spakovsky.

Senator Ensign votes against unemployment extension

Senator Ensign votes against unemployment extension

Nevada Republican Senator John Ensign voted against the unemployment extensions for 2.5 million people today, whose benefits were allowed to expire earlier this month because of the Republican filibuster on the extensions.

The vote was 60-40 with one Democrat, Senator Ben Nelson (NE) voting against the extension and two Republicans voting yes, Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, both from Maine.

The Democrats had an added bonus today with the swearing in of Senator Carte Goodwin (D-WV) who was picked by W. Virginia’s Governor Joe Manchin to finish out the term of Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) who recently died.

Right wing talk show host points out Sharron Angle’s Hypocrisy

Right wing talk show host points out Sharron Angle’s Hypocrisy

Last week, Heidi Harris a right wing pundit on KDWM AM 720 in Las Vegas, NV, went off on Sharron Angle by pointing out her hypocrisy for blaming Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) for Nevada’s high unemployment rate, while also saying that its not the job of a US Senator to “create jobs”.

Heidi Harris, like most right wing pundits usually backs the candidate with the “R” next to his or her name, and the pundits try to lend support to what they have said, regardless of how extreme the candidates words may be, but even Harris can’t turn a blinds eye to Angle’s blatant hypocrisy, no matter how much she may want to.

Sharron Angle, if you want an interview, it will cost you

Sharron Angle, if you want an interview, it will cost you

Sharron Angle (R-NV) who says that she has given more than 60 interviews, has been hiding from the mainstream media, she has given all but one of her interviews to the right wing media, such as Fox and right wing talk radio, the only exception was an appearance on Face to Face with Jon Ralston.

Now, Sharron Angle says that she isn’t hiding from the mainstream media, she just won’t do interviews with them because they will not pay her money to do the interviews. I guess that also means that Fox and right wing talk radio, do pay her money to come on their shows. Still sounds like she is hiding, what rational thinking politician doesn’t like free press and a chance to speak about their issues that they are campaigning on.

Republicans for Reid: Two Northern Nevada Mayors endorse Reid

Republicans for Reid: Two Northern Nevada Mayors endorse Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has received the endorsements from two prominent Republicans in Nevada, Reno Mayor Bob Cashell (R) and Sparks Mayor Geno Martini (R).

Last Wednesday during an interview with the local NBC affiliate Mayor Bob Cashell said , "I think Sharron Angle is just too far to the right for me, she's an ultra-right winger. I can't support her. I don't support her."

Cashell then expanded on his remarks by saying: "Oh she's wild. She's wild. I mean, with the wild ideas she has going back to Washington, our state will suffer and we would never get anything done. And so I'm supporting Harry Reid, and I will go all the way for Harry Reid."

Sparks Mayor Geno Martini said: "It's beneficial for him to be in Washington, D.C., for Sparks, we can't rely on a new person, especially Sharron Angle, to do anything for us here in Sparks. Harry Reid's been very good for us for many, many years."

These two endorsements are part of a growing number of Nevada Republicans who know that Sharron Angle would be a disaster for our State.

There are currently more than 150 well known Nevada Republicans who have come out in support of Senator Harry Reid, you can read more names here.

Michael Steele the Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) once again put his foot in his mouth as he lies at a fundraiser in Connecticut .

As we have seen for the last eighteen months republicans are trying to rewrite history. But this lie is even to hard for the republican party to swallow.
